Accidental Gunshot Victim Pulled Over

A female driver was on her way to the hospital about 4 p.m. Saturday when she was spotted speeding on Park Avenue by a Winona Lake Police Department officer.

She pulled over on Argonne Road, where she told the officer that she had been cleaning a gun when it discharged, leaving her with a gunshot wound to her leg, according to Winona Lake Police Chief Joe Hawn.

The officer called EMS to take her the rest of the way to the hospital. Hawn did not have the identity of the victim. No further details were available as of press time.
