Kosciusko County Commissioners President Bob Conley announced Tuesday his intent to run for re-election this year.

He is completing his third four-year term as a commissioner, representing the southern district.

Conley was born and raised in the county on a farm near Pierceton. His parents later bought a farm south of Warsaw, where he grew up and attended Claypool School and graduated from Warsaw High School. He also graduated from National Barber College in Indiana.

He and his wife, the former Sue Evans, a teacher at Presbyterian Preschool, have three children: Nathan, who works for Lake City Bank; Amanda, a teacher and stay-at-home mom; and Nelson, who is a barber with his father at their South Buffalo Street location. The Conleys have four grandchildren with a grandson due in July.

Growing up, Conley was part of his family farming more than 1,200 acres.

“I learned how to get up in the morning and get things done. That same work ethic is what I will continue to bring to my next term as your local representative,” he said.

Conley has worked with the Kosciusko Economic Development Corp. in recent years to bring “millions of dollars in business and industry to our county, from Syracuse to Silver Lake, Etna Green to Pierceton. I represent everyone, most certainly agriculture, which is a major industry in our community,” he said.

Conley also is a captain in the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Reserves, and serves as president of the county board of finance. He is also a member of the County Solid Waste Management District, county area planning commission, Warsaw Community Development Corp. and technical review board.

He will face off against DeLynn Geiger in the May 8 Republican primary.
