Lee E. Gadson, 90, North Manchester, passed away at 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, in Peabody Retirement Home.

He was born April 18, 1927, in Marshfield, Wis., to Gail and Alice Miner Gadson. On Jan. 12, 1952, in Rensselear, he was united in marriage to Betty Alberts, who preceded him on Sept. 1, 2017.

He was a truck driver and worked for R.R. Donnelley for 19½ years. He was a member of Atwood Otterbein Church.

He proudly served in the United States Navy as a seaman during World War II and was a member of Wabash American Legion Post 15. In addition, he had a love for the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and motorcyclist. He covered all four corners of our beautiful nation on his motorcycles.

He is survived by his daughters, Betty Ann (spouse Bob) Justice, Crestview, Fla., and Myra (spouse Gary Georgia) Gadson, Placitas, N.M.; and sons, Steven (spouse Janice) Gadson, North Fort Myers, Fla., and Jerry (spouse Marie) Gadson, Warsaw. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded by his wife, Betty, and his parents.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 5, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Pastor Jim Lawson will officiate. Interment will be in Stony Point Cemetery, Etna Green, with military honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard, American Legion Post 49 and VFW 1126.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral chapel.

ATWOOD – The congregation at Atwood Otterbein Church will celebrate the 98th anniversary of the building of their church at 306 E. Main St., Atwood, on Sunday at their 9:30 a.m. service. The congregation celebrates its Heritage Day each May.
