Katarzyna Johnson, 37, of 427 E. CR 1150N, #2, Milford, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 8:50 p.m. Wednesday for fraud. Her preliminary bond was set at $5,250.
Court documents filed June 14 list the charges against Johnson as fraud, a level 6 felony, and theft, a Class A misdemeanor.
On March 5, a woman filed a report at the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department regarding a stolen debit card. She contacted the bank and found that there were unauthorized transactions from Amazon using her debit card.
On March 26, sheriff’s deputy Shane Bucher spoke with a man who said he checked his mailbox and found that there was a package with his address on it but an incorrect name. He said that his girlfriend sometimes makes Amazon purchases and has them delivered to their residence.
Then on March 27, Bucher spoke with the girlfriend who said she was contacted by Johnson, who told her she was going to have some packages delivered to her residence. The girlfriend said the packages under a woman’s name arrived at her home and Johnson sent her son to pick up the packages.
Bucher spoke with another man and woman on May 4. The man said he knew Johnson was using someone else’s credit card. The woman said she and the man have seen Johnson purchase items with the stolen debit card.
The woman had a text message that suggested Johnson was in possession of the stolen debit card, court documents indicate.
Bucher was provided information from Amazon on May 30 and discovered the account using the stolen debit card was created on March 4 with a billing address that matched Johnson’s residence.
