CCAC Gets $20K From K21

K21 Health Foundation is continuing to celebrate its 20th year of serving the community, this time by providing a $20,000 gift to City-County Athletic Complex.
K21’s board of directors selected the CCAC to receive this gift to honor its dedication to the community for more than 20 years, according to a news release from K21.
The 65-acre facility opened in 1994 to provide the community with athletic fields for baseball, softball and soccer, but has expanded beyond those three core offerings.
K21 has been involved in several projects at CCAC over the years. In 2011, a K21 grant was instrumental in constructing an indoor multi-use facility so activities could be offered in the winter months. In 2016, after an offer was made for the organization to purchase the 65 acres, which were still being leased from LSC Communications (formerly RR Donnelley), the staff and board of directors of the CCAC initiated a capital campaign to raise the necessary funding. K21 awarded a $175,000 grant toward the land purchase and secure its long-term future.

“K21 is committed to encouraging a culture of health and wellness in our community. One way we do that is to support organizations like the CCAC, which provides opportunities for hundreds of community residents, both youth and adults, to be physically active in a variety of ways,” said K21 President and CEO Rich Haddad.
“Kids can participate in soccer, fast-pitch softball, indoor soccer and basketball, tumbling, and cheerleading leagues. Adults can join slow-pitch softball, soccer, flag football, volleyball and cornhole leagues,” said CCAC Executive Director Karl Swihart. “Our indoor facility also allows us to offer other additional activities year-round, such as pickleball, sports training opportunities and an indoor golf simulator.”
