A Millersburg woman was arrested Thursday after allegedly using her boyfriend’s sister’s information without permission to rent a vehicle in Warsaw.
Kristine Rose Baker, 30, Millersburg, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 11:59 a.m. Thursday.
Court documents filed in Kosciusko Circuit Court in May list the charges against her as forgery, a level 6 felony; identity deception, a level 6 felony; and two counts of fraud, level 6 felonies.
On March 9, Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a burglary in progress. The address was redacted from court records. After arriving to the area, a 2016 Nissan Altima was found with items allegedly stolen from various residences and the personal property of Baker’s inside.
Baker, along with her boyfriend, also were found in the vicinity of the Nissan. Both refused to speak with police, and Baker originally gave officers the name of her boyfriend’s sister – the victim – as her own.
Officers found that a Warsaw car dealership was the registered owner of the Nissan. An employee with the dealership said the vehicle was rented to the boyfriend’s sister on Feb. 23.

Nappanee Police Department officers Cody Ong and Casey Livengood spoke with the boyfriend’s sister and she said believed Baker may have rented the vehicle in her name without her permission.
Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department detective Brandon P. Denesuk spoke with an employee of the Warsaw dealership who verified the woman that rented the Nissan on Feb. 23 presented the victim’s information as her own.
Baker was identified in a collection of photos shown to a dealership employee as the person who rented the Nissan.
Denesuk then spoke with the victim, who said she didn’t give anyone permission to use her information to rent a vehicle. She said her debit card had been used without her permission at the Warsaw car dealership for $124.26; a department store for $255.67; and at a gas station for $10, $11.07 and $27.82.
She said she let her brother and Baker use her vehicle and she left her purse with her driver’s license and debit card in the vehicle.
A warrant for Baker’s arrest was issued May 17.
