Flood Assistance Office Opening In Mentone Monday

By Staff Report-

Kosciusko residents and businesses affected by flooding in February and March are now eligible for disaster assistance, according to press releases by Federal Emergency Management Agency and county emergency management director Ed Rock.

Those who wish to seek federal assistance will need to register at the FEMA?Disaster Recovery Center opening Monday at the Mentone Community Emergency Services Building, 201 W. Main St.

Rock emphasized that even if a resident or business owner had registered with FEMA previously, registration in Mentone is required to get federal assistance.

The center in Mentone will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day through at least June 15. People will need to bring the following information with them to the center:

• Social Security number.

• Address where the damage occurred.

• Current address and phone number.

• Insurance information.

• Total household annual income.

• Routing and account number for a checking or savings account (to allow FEMA to directly transfer disaster assistance funds into the account);

• A description of disaster-caused damage and losses;

• Receipts for work already performed.

Whether the center is open beyond Friday is dependent on how many people register next week.
