By Staff Report-
Mike Barger, who led the Lady Warriors to the program’s only regional title in his first season, is stepping down after two seasons as the head coach.
Barger, who was previously an assistant coach at Wawasee and the head coach at West Noble, informed his players Thursday that he was stepping down, citing a new day job in Elkhart County with hours that wouldn’t allow him to commit to coaching.
Under Barger, the Lady Warriors won a program-record 25 games in 2017, which included a 14-0 record in the Northern Lakes Conference.
In Barger’s two seasons as head coach at Wawasee, the Lady Warriors were 33-21.
After graduating a number of seniors from Barger’s first Wawasee team, the Lady Warriors were young this past season and the next coach will have plenty to work with.
