July 19, 2018 at 4:39 p.m.

A pregnant woman was among the three people injured in a van-pickup collision early this morning.
Jessica A. Nelson, 27, Winona Lake, complained of knee pain in both legs as well as pain in the right arm and left hand. She also complained of cramping, according to a Warsaw Police Department accident report.
Her daughter, Coral S. Alldaffer, 4, same address, complained of head pain and had a large bump on her head.
Nelson and Alldaffer were taken by EMS to Parkview Warsaw.
Edgar J. Pippenger, 71, Warsaw, complained of chest pain and was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital.
The accident happened at 5:24 a.m. today at the intersection of East U.S. 30 and North Parker Street, Warsaw.
Pippenger said he was going southeast on U.S. 30 preparing to turn left on Parker Street. He said he thought he had a green-turn arrow so he began to turn left, according to the police report. He then saw Nelson’s gray 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup coming, and that it was not stopping. Pippenger said he did not have any time to react before his van was hit in the front passenger corner by the pickup.
According to the police report, Nelson said she was heading northwest on U.S. 30 in the right-hand driving lane and she knew she had the green light when Pippenger’s white 2014 Chrysler Town & Country van turned in front of her. Nelson said she tried to swerve to the right to avoid a crash, but the front driver’s corner of her pickup hit the front of the van.

A witness said he was stopped at the red light on Parker Street at U.S. 30 facing southwest. He said the van was traveling west on U.S. 30 and was just ahead of other traffic that did not seem to be slowing down so he assumed the light was green for the westbound through traffic. The witness said Nelson’s pickup turned left in front of Pippenger’s van and they collided. He said he did not actually see who had the green light.
Nelson said her 4-year-old daughter had been in a car seat in the rear middle seat but when the pickup came to a stop, the car seat was in the front middle seat of the vehicle. Nelson said she did not know if the car seat had been properly secured when recently moved the car seat around in the vehicle.
Damage was estimated at $10,000 to $25,000.
