He was born March 1, 1945, in Kosciusko County, to Daniel M. and Louise Fleming Jones. He was a lifelong area resident.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, serving on the USS Hancock. He was a member of the Syracuse American Legion. He served as past commander for the Legion and VFW of Syracuse.
He retired as an electrician in the manufactured housing industry.
On May 21, 1994, he married Linda Line, who survives.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Drew (Nicole) Wottring, Warsaw; two sons, Shawn Jones, Nappanee, and Chad (Sara) Jones, Claypool; a stepson, Patrick McDonald, Warsaw; 18 grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Hue (Jackie) Dunithan, Syracuse.
He was preceded by his son Daniel in 1977.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 16, at Eastlund Funeral Home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, at the funeral home, with Pastor Timothy Morbitzer officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Syracuse Cemetery.
