Bourbon police to offer handgun safety class

BOURBON – Bourbon Police Department will host a basic handgun safety class at 9 a.m. July 21.

The training site will be at the Bourbon Police Department Training Room.

Those interested are asked to bring an unloaded handgun in good, clean working condition along with 50 rounds of ammunition. The ammunition should be left in a vehicle and not brought into the classroom.

Other necessary equipment includes hearing protection, eye protection, holster for the weapon, pen and paper, and appropriate clothing for shooting and the weather.

After the classroom portion of the training, participants will go to the shooting range located off of South Ecker Street near the town dump area.

The entire training is expected to be completed by 3 p.m.

The class is open to the public and is not limited to Bourbon residents.
