Wawasee Routs Bethany In Non-Conference Action
SYRACUSE – The Wawasee boys basketball team clipped Bethany Christian 45-34, Tuesday night. Jairus Boyer poured in 12 points to lead the Warriors.
A hot start in the first quarter started the engines for Wawasee’s offense, outscoring the Bruins 15-7. When halftime arrived, the hosts were ahead 27-18.
Coming out of the locker room, Wawasee netted 11 points in the third quarter. Jacob Hand scored seven of his nine points in the period. The Warriors were able to close out the game in the fourth frame.
Ryan Edington added 11 points and Hand grabbed nine boards off the glass for Wawasee.
Wawasee improved to 4-10 and will face Concord Friday night at home in a Northern Lakes Conference showdown.

Triton Falls To ECA
BOURBON – After a close-knit first half Tuesday night, the Triton Trojans (5-7) fell to Elkhart Christian (11-3) 46-25 in boys basketball action.
The first quarter started out slow for both squads, ending the period with the Eagles up 4-2. Both teams were able to up their total the next period, ending the half with the Trojans down 12-11.
Triton started the second half like a repeat of the first period, scoring only three points, compared to ECA’s 17 points.
The Trojans could not slow down their opponent’s offense, allowing 34 points in the second half, compared to scoring 14 themselves.
Ross Johnson netted nine points and five rebounds to aid Triton. Dylan Hensley contributed eight points to help the team.
Triton plays North Judson Saturday night at Plymouth High School.

Squires Use 27-2 Scoring Stretch To Defeat Bellmont
NORTH MANCHESTER – Manchester went on a hot streak to propel itself to a 57-39 victory over Bellmont. The Squires were down late in the third quarter by seven, but went on a 27-2 run to finish the game.
Increasing its record to 6-7 (2-2 TRC), Manchester had three players score in double-figures. Koehl Fluke tallied 19, Mason Hamby 18 and Brayden Casper accounted for 11 points.
Hamby had an impressive stat line for the Squires, grabbing six rebounds, two steals and two blocks to lead the defensive effort for coach Mark Underwood’s squad.
Manchester travels to Tippecanoe Valley Friday night for a Three Rivers Conference game.

Whitko Loses Battle To Southwood
WABASH – Holding the lead after one quarter didn’t last long for Whitko, losing 81-60 to Southwood Tuesday night.
The Wildcats finished the opening period up 15-14, but couldn’t slow down Southwood’s offense in the final three quarters.
Whitko, now 6-11 (3-2 TRC), had three players that scored double digits. Brett Sickafoose tallied 23 points, River West had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Spencer Sroufe added 11 points and 12 rebounds.
The Wildcats are back in action Friday night at Peru for a Three Rivers Conference matchup. Peru is 3-1 in conference play.

2nd Quarter Hurts LCA In Loss To Cornerstone Prep
FORT WAYNE – Cornerstone College Prep outscored Lakeland Christian 14-6 in the second quarter, and that was enough to give the Eagles a 68-60 non-conference boys basketball win over the visiting Cougars Tuesday night.
Josh McDaniel had 22 points and Noah Twombly added 12 for Lakeland Christian. Cornerstone, which hit 10 three-point shots to LCA’s one, was led by James Smith with 25 points and Ta’Khil Lockett with 22. The Eagles used just five players in the game.
Lakeland Christian will host potential sectional opponent Lakewood Park Christian at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 1.

Wawasee Gymnasts Defeat Warsaw
Reagan Atwood was the all-around winner, leading Wawasee to a 103.250-100.525 Northern Lakes Conference gymnastics win at Warsaw Tuesday night.
Atwood tied Warsaw’s Remi Beckham for first on the vault, won the beam and floor exercise and finished fourth on the bars. Jada Parzygnot won the bars, was second in the vault, third on the floor and fourth on the beam, finishing third in the all-around.
Beckham was second in the all-around after tying for first on the vault and taking second on the bars, beam and floor ex.
Wawasee competes at Lakeland on Thursday night at 6. Warsaw will host Marion and Peru on Jan. 31 at the Parkview YMCA.
