He was born Aug. 6, 1937, and his parents were Elmer and Bernice Weaver Baugher in Valparaiso. He was united in marriage to Esther Bednar on Oct. 6, 1960, in Chesterton.
He came to the Warsaw area from Valparaiso in 1968.
Dallas was a machinist for Monsanto, Ligonier, retiring in 1986. He attended Warsaw Wesleyan Church.
He was a heart transplant patient on Feb. 14, 1989, and was also the longest living transplant patient with Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne. In addition, he loved fishing, building metal cars, short travel, genealogy and spending time with his dog Kosmo.
Dallas is survived by his wife, Esther Baugher, Warsaw; three sons: Robert (spouse Brenda) Baugher, Dewitt, Mich.; Aaron Baugher, Montaque, Mich.; and Mark (spouse Angie) Baugher, Burton, Mich.; two daughters, Cindy (spouse Brent) Moser, Pewamo, Mich., and Sherie (spouse Max) Sumpter, Warsaw; 10 grandchildren: Hope Koontz, Albion; Brandon Klinefelter, Warsaw; Jory Baugher, Kimmell; Amber Davis, St. Johns, Mich.; Clayton Deters, North Webster; Nathan Baugher, North Manchester; Shayne Baugher, Big Rapids, Mich.; Kenny Baugher, Burton, Mich.; Amanda Baugher, Livonia, Mich.; and Destiny Baugher, North Manchester; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Patty Hayes, Portage; Lee Harris, Portage; and Dolly (spouse Michael) Wallace, Valparaiso; and one brother, Bob Brumbaugh, LaPorte.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Elmer Brumbaugh; and a grandson, Zachary Baugher, who preceded Dallas on June 7, 2015.
There will be a celebration of Dallas’ life at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. prior to the memorial service Monday at the funeral chapel, Warsaw. Chaplain Ben Tippen of Great Lakes Hospice will officiate.
Interment will be private and held at a later date with military honors in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
