Judge Michael Reed sentenced Tyler Robert Cooley to serve 2-1/2 years on probation and ordered him to pay $6,892 worth of restitution to the committee.
Cooley was arrested Feb. 6, 2017, after allegedly stealing money from the committee. Police say Cooley stole a total of $7,042 by withdrawing funds from the committee’s bank account, according to a previous Times-Union story.

The 3rd District includes about half of Kosciusko County as well as counties to the east.
Cooley had been elected treasurer in February 2015 and resigned June 23, 2016, after admitting to taking the money.
Noble County Sheriff’s Department began the investigation and handed it over to the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office because the money was withdrawn from a Warsaw bank.
