City Considers Options For Bike Safety On Market St.

Bike safety considerations have already been incorporated into phase one and the upcoming phase two of reconstruction plans for Market Street east of the downtown. Officials now want to focus on a third stretch of road between Columbia Avenue and Hickory Street.

Extending that bike-friendly outlook to the third section would pave the way for people in Winona Lake and Grace College to bike more safely to downtown Warsaw, said Justin Taylor, assistant city planner.
Meetings will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 25.
The Monday meeting will include a presentation about the project and a series of facilitated exercises to gain public opinion on potential improvements to Market Street.
The Jan. 25 meeting will include a draft concept presentation.
Both meetings are open to the public and will be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 102 S. Buffalo St.
Public participation is vital to ensure that this plan addresses the community’s needs.
