Michael L. Weirick was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, after a battle with cancer.

Born to the late Wilson and E. Berniece Eherenman Weirick on July 10, 1939, Michael was a lifelong resident of Warsaw.

He was the owner of Weirick Body Shop and Warsaw Sandblasting and the co-owner of Jet White Grocery. Following his retirement, he worked for the city of Warsaw for 10 years.

Michael was a faithful member of Warsaw Community Church. He was in the Army National Guard for four years. He was also a member of the Moose, Elks and the American Legion.

He loved fishing, hunting and golf. He was known for giving to others, his kindness and his generosity.

Those left with his memories to cherish include the love of his life, Marsha Kilgore, Warsaw; sister, Sandra Redenbacher, Niceville, Fla.; two daughters, Dawn (Russ) Gheer, Robesonia, Pa., and Erin (Chuck) Carty, Thousand Oaks, Calif.; a son, Vince (Rebecca) Weirick, Palm Coast, Fla.; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Also surviving are three nieces, one nephew and Marsha’s family: mother, Virginia McFarland, Akron; brother, Mike (Pam) McFarland, Akron; sister, Claudia (Dr. Ed) Errington, Fort Wayne; daughter, Amy (Rusty) Zimpelman, Mentone; grandson, Bryce Zimpelman, Mentone; and several nieces and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Col. Leon Redenbacher, and his nephew, Randy Redenbacher.

A memorial gathering to celebrate and honor Michael’s life will be held at Warsaw Community Church, 1855 S. County Farm Road, Warsaw, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20.

He will be interred at Warsaw’s Oakwood Cemetery in a private family graveside service.
