Warsaw Student Business Group Headed To State Competition

On Dec. 16, Warsaw Community High School hosted the Regional Leadership Conference for Business Professionals of America, with 39 Warsaw chapter members placing and advancing to state competition.

BPA is a co-extracurricular activity revolving around business-related topics ranging from finance to computer applications, given in individual tests, group presentations or speeches, according to a news release from Warsaw Community Schools.

Fifty-four Warsaw students participated against four other schools in the region, with 39 moving on to state-level competition in Indianapolis in early March.

Warsaw chapter members placed as follows:

• Fundamental accounting: first, Justin Heinsman; second, Wesley Reeder; third, Katie Swain; fourth Valerie Messmore.

• Advanced accounting: first, Jarett Orr; second, Nick Marsh; third, Cole Voss.

• Payroll accounting: first, Kray Menzie.

• Banking and finance: third, Nolan Knight.

• Financial analyst team: first, Warsaw Area Career Center (Nick Marsh, Jarett Orr, Cole Voss, Matt Watson).

• Economic research, individual: Eric Harman.

• Economic research team: second, Warsaw Area Career Center (Noah Pequignot, Dominic Smith, Grant Wagner).

• Personal financial management: third, Nolan Knight; fifth, Andrew Southworth.

• Fundamental word processing: first, Alex Bergen.

• Basic office systems and processes: first, Valerie Messmore.

• Fundamental spreadsheet applications: first, Brenden Baliey; second, Katie Swain

• Advanced spreadsheet applications: second, Luis Macias.

• Database applications: first, Luis Macias.

• Legal office processes: first, Hannah Rice; third, Dillon King.
