MAJOR DRAFT RENEWAL/SMV: SYRACUSE (town) WWTP, Permit No. IN0021172, KOSCIUSKO COUNTY, 1 Conrad St, Syracuse, IN. This major municipal facility discharges 1.05 million gallons daily of sanitary wastewater into Turkey Creek. The permittee requested renewal of its streamlined mercury variance in its NPDES renewal application submitted on September 22, 2017 in accordance with 327 IAC 5-3.5 (SMV Requirements & Application Process) which establishes a streamlined process for obtaining a variance from a water quality criterion used to establish a WQBEL for mercury. A Pollutant Minimization Program Plan (PMPP) addressing the identification & minimization of mercury discharges to the environment required by 327 IAC 5-3.5-9 was included. IDEM has determined, based on staff review & application of pertinent standards & regulations, the submittal is complete & will be incorporated in the draft permit renewal.
