Lady Squires Come Back, But Fall Short At North Miami
DENVER – Manchester scored just one point in the second quarter and trailed by 13 points at halftime before a second-half comeback fell just short in a 45-43 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball loss at North Miami Saturday night.
The Lady Squires outscored North Miami 15-11 in the third period and 19-12 in the fourth quarter to make the game close.
Sydney Day had 15 points for Manchester, and Kennedy Fierstos 12 for the Lady Squires.
“This was a great game to be a part of,” Manchester coach Jacob Everett said. “Our girls battled back from 13 down to have a chance to tie the game late. Unfortunately we weren’t able to execute late and had some struggles in the second quarter.
“I’m proud of the fight and determination we showed to come back tonight.”
In the junior varsity game Mackenzie Day had 10 points, with Kennidy Lauer and Gabbie Brewer adding eight points each for Manchester in its 50-12 win over North Miami.
Manchester (8-9 overall, 4-1 TRC) hosts Peru in a conference game Wednesday.

The junior varsity game went to Argos 21-9 over LCA.
The Lady Cougars take an 8-7 record into its game at Cornerstone Christian Tuesday night.

Lady Warriors Fall At NorthWood In NLC Game
NAPPANEE – NorthWood pulled away in the second half to take a 60-39 Northern Lakes Conference girls basketball win over visiting Wawasee Saturday.
Aubrey Kuhn led Wawasee with 13 points, while Hannah-Marie Lamle and Casey Schroeder added nine points each.
NorthWood also won the junior varsity game 31-13 and the freshman game 23-16 over Wawasee.
Wawasee (8-8 overall, 0-4 NLC) plays at Columbia City Tuesday night.

Lady ‘Cats Fall To Rochester
SOUTH WHITLEY – Kayla Schipper had nine points for Whitko in its 47-30 Three Rivers Conference girls basketball loss to visiting Rochester Saturday night.
Ellie Snep had eight points and Emalee Duggins six for the Lady Wildcats. The loss was the 12th straight for Whitko.
Now 1-15 for the season, Whitko travels to Ossian to face 3A No. 17 Norwell Wednesday night in a non-conference contest.
