Rise ’n Roll In Warsaw Opening Jan. 12

January 4, 2018 at 6:05 p.m.

Anticipation is literally knocking on the door at the soon-to-open Rise ‘n Roll Bakery on Warsaw’s north side.

A curiosity seeker at the door this morning wanted to know what many are asking – when will the store open?

That would be 7 a.m. Jan. 12, according to Vince Banks, who was working inside the renovated interior of the store at 2568 Walton Blvd. on the west side of Ind. 15.

Banks acknowledges that the store’s opening has attracted lots of attention on social media. The store’s Facebook page already has more than 2,000 followers.

The company’s cinnamon caramel doughnuts have been a major attraction for customers for years in northern Indiana.

“I’ve always loved (the doughnuts), so it’s exciting for me to see them in Warsaw-Winona Lake,” he said.

Banks’ wife, Nina, is one of three co-owners. Other owners are Nina’s brother, Mark Hanes, and John Skees, of Fort Wayne.

Vince Banks is retired from Zimmer Biomet and said he will have a limited role at the store.

Company officials are bracing for a big crowd a week from now when the doors swing open and doughnuts and other products start selling.

“We’ll be ready regardless of whether we’re ready,” Banks said with a laugh.

“We’re actually very excited about bringing it here,” he said.

He said he thinks customers will like the interior design, which is kind of a contemporary, modern look, but is decorated in ways to highlight Amish heritage.

“This is the crème de la creme of the Rise ‘n Roll stores because it’s been designed how we expect future store to look.”

The earliest arrivals next Friday might be in line for a free gift.

First person in the door will receive a  dozen free doughnuts every week for a year. Other prizes will include free doughnuts every month and a new bicycle.

The Warsaw store will seat about 30 and employ about 20 people, Banks said.

In addition to its renowned cinnamon caramel doughnuts, the store also will sell other bakery products including jams, pickles, noodles, syrups, among others. The store, though, will not sell deli sandwiches that have been sold in other stores.

Rise ‘n Roll, headquartered in Middlebury, has been in a growth mode in the past year or so. The company opened new stores in Greenwood, near Indianapolis, and in Valparaiso last year, according to Peter Armstrong, systems director for Rise n’ Roll who was also at the store this morning.

Warsaw is the seventh store. The company is looking at opening another location in Elkhart County this year, Armstrong said.

The company will have a private VIP gathering Tuesday.
