AKRON — Asa R. Brofford, 69, Akron, died at 4:44 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018, at the Woodlawn Hospital emergency room, Rochester.

He was born Sept. 23, 1948, in Plymouth, to Asa and Edna Katherine Ault Brofford. On June 25, 1971, in Akron, he married Marilyn Smith. She survives.

He retired from Sonoco Products Co., Akron, after 42 years.

Following Asa’s wishes, private family services will be held. Burial will be in Athens Cemetery.
