Area Swimmers Compete In Prelims Of State Finals

INDIANAPOLIS – Warsaw and Wawasee had boys swimmers compete at the state final preliminaries on Friday at the IUPUI Natatorium.

The top 16 finishers in each event return on the second day of the meet. The top eight swim in the finals and the remaining eight swim in the consolation round.

Sophomore Grant Knight will compete today in the consolation round in the 100-yard breaststroke for the Tigers after finishing 10th. He does not move on in the 200-yard individual medley.

The 200 medley relay just missed the cut in advancing to the finals. The team of seniors Nicholas Zogbi and Evan Borchers, junior Alexander Cook and sophomore Grant Knight hit the wall in 1:37.53. The 200-yard free relay of senior Ian Deming, sophomore Zachary LaLonde, Knight and Cook doesn’t move on for Warsaw. 

Wawasee’s senior Brady Robinson secured a place in the consolation round for today in the 200-yard individual medley. He swam a 1:52.55 for a 13th-place mark.

Junior Jared Krugman just missed the cut to advance and finished 18th in the 500-yard freestyle. 

The consolation round will begin at 1 p.m. today at the IU Natatorium on IUPUI’s campus.
