CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Grace’s track and field team picked up plenty of hardware at the 2018 NCCAA National Indoor Championships, held at Cedarville.

Seven men from Grace’s team earned NCCAA All-American status over the weekend, including three throwing events and a relay squad.

Isaac Stuckey and Jacob Brown got Grace off to a strong start on Friday in the weight throw. Stuckey and Brown finished second and third in the event respectively to earn All-American honors. Stuckey threw 56-feet-10.25, and Brown tossed a personal-best 55-1.5.

Walker Hobbs joined his throwing teammates as All-Americans with his performance in the shot put. Hobbs was third on Saturday with a heave of 48-3.25.

The men’s 4x800-meter relay also reached All-American status thanks to two freshmen and two juniors. Brendan Hamilton, Jonathan Balda, Brady Willard and Sam Hall finished third in a time of 8:02.59. Hall passed Bethel on the final leg just before the finish line to secure an All-American finish, edging out the Pilots by five-tenths of a second.

Cameron Johnson enjoyed his best performance of the season in the 60 hurdles. He ran 8.66 seconds in the preliminaries before turning in a 8.69 in the finals to place fourth.

Quinn Shelton scored for the women’s team, placing fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:04.98.

Isaiah Zeller broke his own school record in the pole vault when he cleared 14-2.5 to end in fifth place.

Jesse Zvers had a season-best 19:55.09 in the 5,000 to place 10th, and Thomas Hickerson finished eighth in the long jump at 20-10.5.

“We had some very strong performances this weekend, including numerous PRs and a school record, so we're certainly pleased with the effort,” said Grace head coach Jeff Raymond. “For most of our team, it’s time to prepare for the outdoor season. But we’re looking forward to seeing Isaac Stuckey and Jacob Brown represent Grace at NAIA Indoor Nationals.”

Stuckey and Brown will participate in the weight throw at the 2018 NAIA Indoor National Championships, held in Pittsburg, Kan., starting March 1.
