Ross Johnson Scores 19; Triton Loses To John Glenn

WALKERTON – Triton lost 55-47 in a boys basketball nonconference matchup against John Glenn on Saturday. 

The Falcons (13-7) outscored the Trojans 31-18 in the first half. Triton (6-13) shot 41 percent in the first half, while John Glenn made 65 percent of its shots. 

The Trojans kept pace and added nine more points to their total after the third quarter.

In the fourth, the Falcons slowed down and scored nine points, while Triton was able to reach double figures for the first time and scored 20 points, but it was not enough to catch John Glenn.

Ross Johnson led all scorers on Triton with 19 points. Beau Hepler tallied 14 and four rebounds. 

The Trojans play on Tuesday at Bremen.

Wawasee Loses To East Noble On The Road

KENDALLVILLE – East Noble defeated Wawasee 64-51 in boys basketball action on Saturday. The Knights (19-1) are ranked No. 12 in Class 4A.

The Warriors (5-16) saw themselves down early as they trailed 9-5 after the first quarter and were unable to make a comeback.

Wawasee had three players score in double figures. Aaron Evans had 16, Jairus Boyer tallied 11 and Ryan Edington earned 10 points. Jacob Hand and Boyer grabbed five boards each.

The Warriors will conclude the regular season on Friday as they take on Tippecanoe Valley. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. in Syracuse.

Area Wrestlers Compete In State Finals

INDIANAPOLIS – The Wawasee Warriors wrestling team had three members take part in the state finals at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday. 

Senior Elisha Tipping had the team’s best placing at the match. The 285-pounder finished sixth, after a first-round win and a victory in the consolation round. 

Junior Geremia Brooks received seventh in the 132-pound weight class. He had a first-round victory, lost his next two and won his last match in the consolation round. 

Freshman Jace Alexander lost his opening round match  at 106-pounds and was done.

Among other local wrestlers at the event, Manchester junior Delton Moore competed in the 170-pound weight class. He lost in the opening round to the eventual fourth-place finisher.
