McDaniel Leads LCA To Thrilling Win Over Oregon-Davis

WINONA LAKE – The Lakeland Christian Academy Cougars continued their late-season push and extended their win streak to three games Friday night with a 51-50 nonconference victory over the Oregon-Davis Bobcats.

The host Cougars, now 10-11 on the season, trailed 38-36 after three quarters of play before securing the thrilling win.

The teams were tied 12-12 at the end of the first quarter and the Cougars used a 20-point second stanza to pull ahead 32-24 at halftime.

Josh McDaniel made four three-pointers en route to a team-high 20 points for LCA, while Jeremy Gross netted 12 points, Jake Harmon nine, and Landon Twombly and Elijah Raymond four each.

John Clark buried four three-pointers for the Bobcats and scored a game-high 23 ponts, 16 of which came in the second half. Oregon-Davis’ Trevor Risner made three treys and scored 11 points, while teammates Trevor Wilson and Lance Campbell finished with eight and six points, respectively.

The Bobcats fell to 10-8 with the 1-point loss.

LCA has two more regular season games before playing in Class 1A Sectional 52 at Hamilton High School, for which the pairings will be drawn Sunday by the IHSAA.

The Cougars host Howe Military Tuesday in the final home game of the season, and then travel to South Bend Career Academy Thursday.

Oregon-Davis, which plays in 1A Sectional 51, hosts Class 2A No. 3 LaVille (21-0) on Tuesday.
