Warsaw Community High School hosted the preliminary round of the boys swimming sectional Friday night. Swimmers had to finish in the top eight to qualify for today’s finals.

Warsaw’s 200-yard medley relay team of Nicholas Zogbi, Nicolas Bazzoni, Nathaniel Taylor and Ian Deming finished first in the event. The Tigers’ 200-yard freestyle relay of Zachary LaLonde, Jacob Lalonde, Deming and Bazzoni advanced to the finals. The 400-yard free relay (Michael Ray, Gabe Bowers, Zogbi and J. LaLonde) move on as well.

Evan Borchers, Jacob LaLonde and Michael Ray will swim in the finals for the 200-yard free event for Warsaw. Grant Knight, Bazzoni and Deming move on in the 200-yard individual medley. Alexander Cook and Zachary LaLonde advance in the 50-yard free.

Three swimmers secured top-eight finishes in the 100-yard butterfly for the Tigers, Nathaniel Tayler, Borchers, and Deming. Jacob LaLonde and Cook move on in the 100-yard free. Zogbi earned a spot in the 500-yard free final.

Zachary LaLonde and Zogbi received placings in the 100-yard backstroke finals. Knight, Bazzoni and Deming advanced in the 100-yard breaststroke race. 

For Tippecanoe Valley, the 200-yard medley relay (Chase Brower, Mason Stephen, Daniel Alexander and Zach Hodge) finished eighth to move on to the finals. The 400-yard free relay of Dakota Prater, Alexander, Brower and Stephen move on.

Brower advanced in the 50 and 100-yard free events. Alexander moved on in the 100-yard butterfly. 

The Manchester Squires had Parker York secure a spot in both the 50 and 100-yard free finals.

Diving will begin at 10 a.m. today at the Warsaw Community High School pool. The swimming finals will follow at 1 p.m.
