Gloria Jesus Verteramo, 86, passed away quietly on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, in Bethlehem Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation, Fort Wayne.

Gloria was born to Victor Egly and Henrietta Guerra Egly on Sept. 24, 1931, in Brownsville, Texas. She was one of five children raised in the family home.

On Feb. 27, 1954, Gloria was united in marriage to Joseph James Verteramo in Harlingen, Texas. Gloria and Joe, as most knew him, shared more than 60 happy years before his passing on April 24, 2017.

As Joe served a full career in the U.S. Air Force, the pair moved often and called several places home. After Joe’s retirement, they lived in Plymouth, before spending the last 12 years in Warsaw.

Gloria was a parishioner of Sacred Heart and she loved to read, especially books written about faith and a love for Christ. She loved traveling to Mexico and was very proud of her Latin heritage. She also enjoyed cooking.

Family was very important to Gloria and she loved her children and grandchildren dearly; she was always sure to document their time together from behind the lens of her camera. She also very much enjoyed time spent with friends.

Those who survive include son John (wife Paula) Verteramo, Elkhart; daughters Chris Campbell, Fort Wayne, and Teresa Verteramo, Corpus Christi, Texas; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a sister, Maria Fogerty.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Verteramo Sr.; son Joseph Verteramo Jr.; and three brothers: Victor, Oscar and Joseph Egly.

Friends may join the family to pray the rosary at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, in Titus Funeral Home, 2000 E. Sheridan St., Warsaw.

Visitation will be in the funeral home beginning at 10  a.m. Saturday, with Mass of Christian Burial at noon in Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
