Balkes Celebrating 50 Years Together

Richard Balke and the former Susanne Lentz were married April 17, 1968, in First United Methodist Church, Plymouth, with Samuel Carlson officiating.
Richard was a truck driver from 1956 to 1969. He went to school for computer programming, which led to a job at United Telephone Co. of Indiana. He eventually became the staff COE supervisor, electronic control, and retired after 20 years of service.
Susanne was a homemaker and worked in the Warsaw High School cafeteria for eight years.
The couple’s children are Kathy (Chuck) Detrick, Plymouth; Peggy (Thomas) Patrick, Bourbon; Richard (Kim Balke), Churubusco; Tammy (Gerald) Smith, Lincolnton, N.C.; Anna (Leonard) Chambers, Argos; and Brian (Elaine) Balke, Silver Lake. They have 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Cake and punch will be served from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 18 at The Connection, 1692 W. Lake St., Warsaw. The pleasure of your company is requested; no gifts, please.
