Manchester Loses To No. 1 Oak Hill In Sectional 37

CONVERSE – The Manchester Lady Squires fell 54-27 Friday night to Oak Hill. The Lady Golden Eagles are the No. 1 team in 2A and are hosting Sectional 37.

The 2017 2A state runners-up had a big lead in the first quarter, leading 16-2 over Manchester (11-12). Oak Hill (21-2) led the whole game and never looked back, securing its place in the sectional final.

The Lady Golden Eagles used height to their advantage, grabbing 32 rebounds, while Manchester had 21 boards. 

Neither team shot well from outside the arc. The Lady Squires shot 21 percent and Oak Hill shot 33 percent. 

Sydney Day led Manchester with eight points and five rebounds. Erika Kendall and Kennedy Fierstos added six points each.

Triton Falls To Oregon-Davis In 1A Action

HAMLET – The Triton Lady Trojans dropped a 1A girls basketball sectional contest 45-29 to Oregon-Davis.

Triton (10-13) has allowed 45 points in each matchup against the Lady Bobcats (12-12) this season. The schools played each other on Jan. 3, with Triton losing 45-44.

The Lady Trojans finished the season third in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference. 

Oregon-Davis will play Argos in the 1A Sectional 51 title game, Saturday at 6 p.m., hosted at Oregon-Davis.
