The host Raiders (8-7, 4-2 NLC) are now in a four-way tie for first place in the conference after the win, joining Warsaw, Plymouth and Memorial atop the league standings.
Wawasee (4-13, 1-5 (NLC) had a slim 2-0 lead to start the game, but a quick spurt by Northridge and the hosts never looked back. The Raiders went on a 10-2 run to end the quarter with a 16-7 advantage and the Warriors were unable to ever climb back uphill.
Northridge drilled three-pointers on three straight possessions to begin their scoring. Junior Jackson Erikson had a big four-point play to lift the Raiders in the opening period.
Northridge was paced by senior Connor Utley in the first stanza, as he scored 10 points on 4-of-4 shooting.
Senior Trevon Coleman scored four points in the quarter for Wawasee.
The Warriors trailed 28-17 at halftime.
Northridge had the advantage on the glass, grabbing 15 rebounds in the first half, six of them on the offensive end.
“(We) needed to get defensive stops and end those possessions with rebounds,” said Wawasee coach Jon Everingham. “A credit goes to Northridge, they got those big rebounds.”
Wawasee went into the half down 11 points after shooting 33 percent from the field, while Northridge shot 75 percent.
Utley didn’t cool down from the short break, scoring five points in the third period. Coleman was able to add five for the Warriors.
“We put in a few new things that I thought we did very well with tonight,” Everingham said. “(We) were able to isolate Trevon under the basket and he did a great job of doing some of the things we taught him throughout the week.”
In the fourth quarter, the Warriors were able to outscore the Raiders 9-3, but it was too late at that point.
Coleman led the Warriors with 18 points and five rebounds. Seniors Jairus Boyer and Jacob Hand finished with seven points each.
The remaining schedule does not get any easier for Wawasee, with its next game at home on Feb. 9 against Goshen.
