NORTH WEBSTER – Daniel T. “Dan” Ewald, 66, of Leesburg, passed away at 5:52 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2018, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He was born on March 5, 1952, in South Bend, to Daniel T. and Kathryn H. Nagy Ewald.

He graduated in 1970 from Riley High School in South Bend and Ivy Tech in South Bend with an associate degree. He moved to North Webster in 1986 from South Bend and on April 2, 1988, in North Webster, he married Melody A. Gray, who survives.

He retired in May 2017 from Akzo Nobel Powder Coatings (formerly Rohm & Haas Powder Coatings and Morton International) in Warsaw after 29 years. He formerly worked at Hammersley Security Service & Reese Security Services in Warsaw and after retirement he worked at Securitas Security in Fort Wayne and Bob Evans in Warsaw.

He was a member of the North Webster United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher and greeter.

He is survived by his wife, Melody Ewald of Leesburg; two daughters, Lynn M. (Shaun) Schleeter of Harrisburg, Mo., and Cassandra L. (Jesse) Henley of Goshen; two sons, Jason M. (Jessica) Ewald of Holts Summit, Mo., and Eric (Lori) Ewald of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda K. Helenburg of South Bend; and a brother, Michael A. Ewald Sr. of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, David Ewald.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, in the funeral home, with Pastor Byron Kaiser officiating. Burial will follow in the Mock Addition of the North Webster Cemetery.
