Tippecanoe Valley Falls To Class 2A No. 3 LaVille

LAPAZ – The Tippecanoe Valley boys basketball team had three players score in double figures, but lost 50-44 Friday in a road game against Class 2A No. 3 LaVille.

Tanner Trippiedi, Parkur Dalrymple and Cameron Parker all scored 10 points for the Vikings (5-4), while Jared Beehler scored a game-high 23 points for the Lancers (8-0). 

Valley was down 16-8 after the first quarter, but limited LaVille to five points in the second and carried a one-point lead into halftime.

However, the Vikings scored just six points in the third quarter, and were outscored by three in the fourth for the six-point loss. 

Valley will play Columbia City Friday.

Miller’s 23 Leads Warriors Over Cougars

ALBION – Austin Miller scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Wawasee boys basketball team to a 60-52 win Friday at Central Noble.

The Warriors (2-6) benefitted from a 22-point second quarter that gave them a 32-30 lead at halftime. 

They outscored Central Noble 11-9 in the third quarter and 17-13 in the fourth for the eight-point win. 

Aaron Evans scored 17 points for Wawasee, while Bennett Hoffert added 10. 

Ridley Zolman led the Cougars (4-2) with 14 points.

Wawasee will host its own tournament Friday, and will begin play against Garrett at 10 a.m.

ALBION – The Wawasee girls basketball team struggled offensively in a 66-26 loss Friday at Class 2A No. 1 Central Noble.

The Lady Warriors (3-10) scored just four points in the first quarter, five in the second, eight in the third and nine in the fourth. 

Rhian Galloway scored a team-high six points for Wawasee, while Meleah Leatherman led the defending state champion Lady Cougars (14-0) with 25 points. 

The Lady Warriors will host Norwell Dec. 29 at 10 a.m. in the Wawasee Classic.

Whitko Falls Short At Oregon-Davis

HAMLET – A second-half surge was not enough as the Whitko girls basketball team lost 55-43 Friday at Oregon-Davis.

The Lady Wildcats (3-10) gave up 40 points in the first half to trail by 19 at the break. 

They stepped up their defense in the second half, allowing the Lady Bobcats (6-6) just 15 points, but couldn’t make up the difference on the offensive end. 

Whitko played six players throughout the game, while Oregon-Davis stuck to the same five players for the duration of the game.

Emalee Duggins scored a team-high 17 points for Whitko, while Mercedes Rhodes hit five three-pointers for a game-high 23 points for Oregon-Davis.

Whitko will play Jan. 5 at 2:30 p.m. at Rochester.
