Retired Grace College Prof Turns 90 On Dec. 16

Wayne was born Dec. 16, 1928, in Roaring Spring, Pa. He has been a resident of Winona Lake for more than 65 years.
Growing up, he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol in Roaring Spring.
He is a professor emeritus of Grace College in Winona Lake. He met his wife of 55 years, Hyla Palmer Snider, at Grace; she was in a class he was teaching.
As a professor of history, Wayne loved making it come alive for his students. His family says even now he doesn’t miss the opportunity to instruct.
His children are Lisa Floyd and son-in-law David Floyd of Kiawah Island, S.C.; Jackie Snider; Warsaw; and Jen Snider, Pierceton. He has two grandchildren, Vanessa Floyd of Arlington, Va., and Alex Floyd of Summerville, S.C.
Wayne will enjoy a family celebration for his birthday, with family members coming in from several states.
