The Tigers’ Ogle Problem

A town with no backbone. The Doug Ogle-David Wayne combo has had five players – four starters – leave Warsaw just in the last 23 months. This is unprecedented. Is that period, is that more starters than all the rest of the coaches in Indiana combined have lost? Has Warsaw ever had a starter quit before Ogle? How long will this community keep this coach? Who said it's your job no matter how many of our kids you tear down and run off? The vast majority that stays are glad when it's over.

Does anyone in this community have any backbone to stand up for these kids? Check NorthWood, Tippy Valley, Manchester, etc., and you will see more good young Warsaw kids/players who have fled our community to escape Ogle. Ask them. These are facts.

If my own mother was the coach and the kids were leaving our community, I would say, “Mother, I love you, but you need to step down.”

I spoke out about Ogle's problem in handling his players years ago in a town meeting when the Plumlees, Irwin, etc., left. I wrote a letter last year about the problem of kids leaving will get worse. The good ol’ boys club berated me. Can't list facts about Ogle. He's their boy. But you can fire Michelle Harter for questionable reasons. The club doesn't say a word. She wasn't in the club. Hypocrites.

The good ol’ boys club consists of some school board members, superintendent, principle, etc., down to some of the fans. Ogle/Wayne think they are Tiger basketball. The kids are Tiger basketball. Hey, club members, stop badmouthing the kids/parents when they leave. You do it every time, from the Plumlees to the present. Even though every new coach of the Ogle refugees have had the highest praise for them.

Warsaw and the club, I have this to say again. You have a problem. Question: Is Ogle more important to you than the kids of this community? If he is, then you are shameful.
