Mark McCurties, a practitioner of Christian Science healing, will present a talk titled "How God's love can change your life and the world" at 2 p.m. Dec. 15 at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Warsaw.
"We all have a natural desire to improve ourselves and the world around us,” McCurties said. “In my own life I've found that letting God, divine love, guide and direct my efforts brings permanent and meaningful results."
The ideas in this lecture are based on the teachings of Jesus as recorded in the Bible, and as discussed in “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures” by Mary Baker Eddy.
McCurties spent a number of years in the field of education, where he worked as a camp director, experiential educator, resident counselor and athletics coach. While working with young people, he said, he had many opportunities to witness the healing power of God, and these experiences eventually led him into the full-time public practice of Christian Science.
McCurties is a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship. He travels from his home in Ann Arbor, Mich.

‘God’s All Community Choir’ Singing Sunday
CLAYPOOL – Claypool United Methodist Church will have a concert with "God's All Community Choir" at 5 p.m. Sunday.
A social time in the fellowship hall will follow the concert.
Everyone is welcome.
The church has Sunday school at 9 a.m. and Sunday worship at 10:20 a.m.
St. Anne’s Holiday Services Scheduled
St. Anne’s Episcopal Church invites the public to its celebrations of Christ’s birth this holiday season.
Two services are offered on Dec. 23: Advent Lessons and Prayers at 8 a.m. and Advent Lessons and Carols at 10:15 a.m.
A Christmas Eve Mass is planned for 7 p.m. Dec. 24.

Gospel Piano Concert Sunday At Riverview
TIPPECANOE – Timothy Goble will give a gospel piano concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Riverview Community Church.
Noble, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, participates in the annual National Quartet Convention and has been part of The Parade of Pianos main stage event and also at Shipshewana. His concerts are often theme-based programs featuring pictures, narration and family participation.
Everyone is welcome.
There is no ticket charge, but a love offering will be collected.

Community Christmas Concert Saturday
A “Christmas Community Gospel Fest” is planned for Saturday at Warsaw Family Worship Fellowship Center.
The concert will be from 4 to 7 p.m. and will feature singing from local churches.
Everyone is invited to bring nonperishable food items for feeding the hungry.
The church is at 1250 Husky Trail, Warsaw.
Christmas Cantata Sunday In N. Manchester
NORTH MANCHESTER – The Christmas cantata “Night of the Father’s Love” will be presented at 7 p.m. Sunday at North Manchester United Methodist Church.
This rendition of the Christmas story will be sung by the church’s Chancel Choir and was composed by Pepper Choplin. Terry McKee is the director, and Jim Smith and Angie Briner are the narrators. The cantata will feature vocalists and instrumentalists from the community and Manchester University.
Christmas treats in the fellowship hall will follow the concert.
The church is at 306 E. Second St., North Manchester.
‘An Organist’s Christmas’ Planned Sunday
“An Organist’s Christmas” featuring Aaron Tan and the Lakeland Youth Chorale is planned for 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Warsaw First United Methodist Church.
The concert is sponsored by the Rodeheaver Series for the Performing Arts. Music on the Goulding & Wood Pipe Organ and the Steinway piano will include selections from Bach, Distler, Rachmaninoff, Monnikendam and selections from “The Nutcracker.”
Tan is studying at The Institute of Sacred Music at Yale University and serves as Organ Scholar at the Church of the Resurrection, New York City. His classical repertoire and thoughts on music’s place in worship as a means of “directing people’s minds and spirits to God” can be found at aarontan.org.
The Lakeland Youth Chorale, created in 2000, has grown to three choirs: Piccolo Singers for grades 3-5, Vivace for grades 6-7 and Inner Voices for grades 8-10. The choirs perform a variety of music.
There is no admission charge to the concert, but donations would be appreciated. Handicapped accessibility is through the church’s north entrance (behind Lake City Bank).
