On Oct. 15, Warsaw Police officer Jordan Roberts responded to a report of a fraudulent credit card purchase at Smith Appliance. He spoke with the business owner who said that on Oct. 9, a man and woman – later identified as Zachary Anewich and Rodman – purchased appliances valued at $4,654.50 and used a MasterCard to pay for the items. The owner said they attempted to run the credit card Rodman had furnished and the card was denied.

The owner said Rodman called her bank and the person on the phone requested to speak with the cashier. The person on the phone told the cashier of the four-digit passcode to push the card through. The cashier entered the code and the card was accepted. The appliances purchased were loaded into a U-Haul truck and they left the store.

The owner said that on Oct. 13, he received an email from PNC Bank advising the credit card used to purchase the appliances was fraudulent.

On Oct. 17, WPD officer Christopher Brown responded to a fraudulent credit card purchase at Reinholt’s Town Square Furniture.

The owner told Brown that on Oct. 9 Anewich and Rodman purchased furniture valued at $6,691.78. He said they gave the cashier a code and confirmation number and the transaction was completed. Reinholt’s owner said the two people loaded the furniture into a U-Haul truck and there were appliances already inside the truck.

He also said that on Oct. 17, they received a notice that the credit card used for the transaction was fraudulent. He said they took a photograph of Rodman’s identification card and found her Facebook page, which included a photo of her and Anewich.

Warsaw Police detective Jeffrey Ticknor found the U-Haul truck was rented to a woman on Sept. 7. Ticknor spoke with the U-Haul rental company and they said records indicate the woman had reported fraudulent use of her credit card.
