NORTH MANCHESTER — Wabash County’s Frances Slocum DAR chapter will hold a genealogy workshop from 9:15 to 11 a.m. Sept. 15 at North Manchester Public Library, Blocher Room, 405 N. Market St.

Members of the Frances Slocum chapter and other Indiana DAR members will be at the library to talk about DAR and its resources for family history research. Members will also be available to help with family history research.

The Daughters of the American Revolution is a volunteer service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism. They will help people research their ancestors to see if their lineage includes a patriot. They say that if a person’s grandparents or great-grandparents were born in this country, it’s likely they have a Revolutionary War patriot as an ancestor. Those who are interested in researching their roots should bring family lineage dates and places of residence they are aware of.

For more information, contact Linda Thompson at 260-563-4661 or Barbara Amiss at 260-982-4376.

Singles Meeting Friends

Only four attended this week’s meeting, but it was  enough to enjoy a game of euchre after the meeting.

Donald showed some pictures of his family past and present.  He had been on a Wisconsin trip lately and enjoyed the trip and scenery.

Members discussed Bluetooth wireless technology: what it is and if it is necessary to have the app on one's phone.  Donald showed a new "toy" addition to his electronics. He acquired a compact keyboard that folds out to operate with his cellphone.

The group was reminded of the many festivals and events planned Labor Day weekend.

Anyone wanting to meet new friens is invited to come to the upstairs deli at Martin’s Super Market between 6:30 and 7 p.m. on Wednesdays. If you haven't eaten, grab dinner at the deli and join others for conversation and friendship.
