Warsaw Wesleyan Church has adopted a new name for itself — Pathway Church.

Founded in 1902, the church has been a positive force in Kosciusko County for over a century, says Jarod Osborne, the lead pastor of Pathway.

The new name emphasizes the journey of walking with Jesus, including surrendering, growing and serving God, Osborne said. The church also took on a new name to signify that something new is happening, and new people can jump in.

“Around two-thirds of the residents of Kosciusko County don’t attend any church. Pathway wants to inspire their journey of faith,” he said. “We want to invite people who haven’t been to church in a while, or have had a bad experience, and help them have a great experience!”

Osborne said the new name has often raised the question, “Is the church still Wesleyan?”

Pathway is still a Wesleyan church, a Protestant evangelical denomination that reaches around the globe. Some unique traits of the Wesleyan  church worldwide are its emphasis on personally responding to God’s grace, having a transformed heart, working for social justice and empowering women to serve in ministry.

Pathway Church offers weekend worship services at 9 and 10:30 a.m. and specific ministries tailored to each age group.

The church is extending an open invitation to anyone who doesn’t have a church to visit during its fall launch Sept. 9, or to visit its website: www.pathway.community.

The church is at 2402 W. Old 30, Warsaw.
