Syracuse Woman Faces Felony Fraud Charge After Misuse Of Debit Card

Amber Rae Zollinger, 34, of 207 E. Pittsburgh St., Syracuse, was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:17 p.m. Monday for fraud on a financial institution, a level 5 felony. Her preliminary bond was set at $2,750.
On Aug. 1, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department Det. Shane Bucher went to a Warsaw bank regarding a reported fraud. The bank’s client protection services manager told him a woman had reported unauthorized transactions on her debit card.
It was determined that the transactions were made to an inmate in Elkhart and Kosciusko county jails, according to court documents filed Aug. 17.
On Aug. 2, the woman told Bucher that the inmate was Zollinger’s boyfriend. She said she had not given consent for the inmate or Zollinger to use her debit card.
Bucher contacted Zollinger, who admitted she made the transactions to the inmate’s jail account.
The bank refunded $347.80 to the woman.
