13-Year-Old Held In Slashing Incident

The boy’s identity was not revealed in a news release from the Syracuse Police Department.
The injury to the victim, John Manges, 34, Syracuse, was serious but non-life-threatening, according to the release.
At approximately 7:43 p.m. Wednesday, Syracuse police were dispatched to 529 Prairie Drive regarding a stabbing. On arrival, officers determined the boy had slashed Manges after a brief altercation. Officers were told Manges left the scene and was taken to Goshen General Hospital in a private vehicle.
The suspect was taken into custody after police interviewed Manges, witnesses and the suspect. He was then taken to the detention center.
Syracuse police were assisted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, North Webster Police Department and Kosciusko County Probation Department.
