Walkerton Woman Arrested In March Home Burglary


A Walkerton woman was arrested Monday for allegedly helping a man burglarize a Kosciusko County home in March.

Madison Marie Stafford, 21, Walkerton, was arrested and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail at 10:59 a.m. Monday for burglary and possession of meth. Her preliminary bond was set at $15,250.

Court documents filed Friday list the charges against Stafford in this case as burglary, a level 4 felony, and theft, a level 6 felony.

On March 27, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputy Lou Mediano responded to a burglary and theft in Kosciusko County. Upon arrival, he met with the homeowner who said that on that day an unknown person forced open her basement window and entered her residence. The person stole jewelry, a laptop computer and a safe that contained $8,000 in cash, $8,000 in antique coins and personal paperwork.

On July 17, KCSD Det. Shane Bucher received information that Michael Miller was responsible for the burglary and theft. The next day, he spoke with Miller who admitted his girlfriend, Stafford, drove him to that residence and parked by the road. He jumped the fence and pried the basement window open, then entered the residence. He opened the garage door and Stafford drove the car into the garage. He loaded the safe and computer into her vehicle and they left the residence, court documents state.

Miller also stated he and Stafford drove to Brian Bradberry’s residence and Bradberry broke the safe open. Miller gave him $1,000 for breaking the safe open.

Bradberry, Stafford and he took the safe and dumped it off a bridge and into the water.

Miller also admitted to breaking into another man’s storage unit and stealing tools.

Bucher spoke with Bradberry who admitted to breaking open the safe and receiving $1,500.

On July 19, Bucher spoke with Stafford who admitted she went with Miller and broke into the residence. She confirmed they took the safe to Bradberry to get the safe open and they paid him for the job.
