SYRACUSE – Betty J. Graff, 81, of Goshen, passed away at 9:22 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17, 2018, at her home.

She was born on April 8, 1937, in Hopkinsville, Ky., to Ernest J. and Mamie Gertrude Morris Orten.

She attended Hopkinsville schools and was married on June 25, 1955 in Hopkinsville to George E. Graff, who preceded her on Nov. 10, 2003.

She grew up in Kentucky and lived most of her life in the Syracuse and Goshen area. She was a homemaker, formerly worked for the Syracuse Senior Center, and was a foster parent for many years.  

She is a member of the Grace Bible Baptist Church in New Paris.

She is survived by a son, Fred Graff, Goshen; three grandchildren, Lakin Graff, Paige Graff and Brittanie Medlen; three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler and Rylie; a sister,  Dorothy Gilkey, Syracuse; and a brother, Wayne (Mim) Orten, Syracuse. She was preceded in death by her husband, step mother, Arlene Orten; a sister, Beatrice; and two brothers, Jerry and Harold Orten.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2018, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22 in the funeral home with Pastor Joel Wallenbeck officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
