Katip Is Keynote Speaker For Day Of Prayer Service

The theme is based on Ephesians 4:3: “Making every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through the bond of peace."
The gathering to pray for the community and the country is planned for noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at Winona Heritage Room (formerly Rodeheaver Auditorium), 901 Park Ave.

Representatives from the community will lead prayers for eight areas of focus:
Government — Warsaw Mayor Dr. Joseph Thallemer.
Ministry — Pastor Tim Sprankle, Leesburg Grace Brethren Church.
Military — The Rev. Richard C. Maron, Calvary Tabernacle.
Drug crisis — Stoney Craft, senior pastor, Elijah’s Fire International Church, Elkhart.
Family — Darla France, founder, Life Touch Ministry.
Business — Jim Lesko, DePuy director of biostatistics.
Education — Dr. Rachel Hoffert, associate professor of education at Grace College.
Revival — U.S. Rep. Jim Banks, Ind. 3rd
The National Day of Prayer Task Force says, "Whether we face fluctuating economic threats from abroad, unrest at home, or other troubling circumstances, our Heavenly Father is not caught unaware. Through prayer, we are able to tap into His wisdom, strength, protection and peace. He stands ready to respond to our needs when we humbly ask for divine intervention in the affairs of men."
Dr. William J. Katip will be keynote speaker for the event. Katip has 40 years of college administration and teaching experience. His background includes college admissions, student life and academic affairs. He has held positions at Robert Morris University, Geneva College, Western Baptist College and Cornerstone University. In June 2007 he moved back to Indiana and became provost at Grace College and Seminary in Winona Lake. Katip accepted the role of president for the institution in May 2013.
Music will be provided by The Grace Gospel Choir led by Aaron Scantlen, with Richard Dick at the piano.
Those who are unable to attend the ceremony are invited to pray where they are at the time.
