Kruschwitz Medals; Whitko Wins 4-Way Golf Match

SYRACUSE – The Whitko boys golf team finished first out of four teams on Thursday night at South Shore Golf Club.

The Wildcats shot a 176, just clipping second-place Manchester, which shot a 177. Wawasee finished third with a 179 and South Bend Riley ended fourth with a 193.

Cade Bechtold led the Wildcats with a 39. Kaleb Busz followed with a 43. Kyler Bryant and Dale Reiff both carded a 47. Jonathan Strayer rounded out the lineup for Whitko with a 58.

Manchester’s Harley Kruschwitz was the medalist as he shot a 35. Nathan Self shot a 41 for the Squires. Konrad Borgmann followed with a 47. Logan Parrett (54) and Mathias McLaughlin (58) rounded out the lineup for the Squires.

The Warriors were led by Zach Leedy, who shot a 41. Dillon Drake recorded a 44 and Luke Weisser was right behind with a 45. Evan Dipper and Jared Krugman each carded a 49 for Wawasee.

All three teams will compete in the Wawasee Invitational on Saturday at South Shore.



Whitko Loses Close Match At Wabash

WABASH – The Whitko Lady Wildcat tennis team lost 3-2 at Wabash on Thursday.

In the Three Rivers Conference match, Whitko won each match in three sets. 

Natalie Iholtz won at No. 1 singles 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. The No. 2 doubles pair of Blair Creamer and Lilly Owsley won 6-2, 4-6, 7-5.

The Lady Wildcats will play at the Wabash Invitational on Saturday at 10 a.m.



Lady Trojans Rout LaVille

BOURBON – The Triton girls tennis team remained perfect at 7-0 (4-0 HNAC) this season after winning 4-1 against LaVille on Thursday.

The Lady Trojan’s Kolbie Mason won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Molly McFarland won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.

The No. 1 doubles pair of Hannah Wanemacher and Emma Ross recorded scores of 6-3, 6-2 to win. Megan McFarland and Emma Hepler at No. 2 doubles won 6-1, 6-3.

Haley Hooley lost 6-3, 6-4 in a close match at No. 3 singles.

Triton plays at the Concord Invitational on Saturday.

Manchester (4-3) had its closest match at No. 2 doubles. Erika Kendall and Rebekah Pyle lost 6-1, 6-1. Halle Briner lost 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

Kelsey Eichenauer (No. 1 singles), Lydia Little (No. 3 singles), and Eva Bazzoni and Kendra Auler (No. 1 doubles) all lost 6-0, 6-0 for the Lady Squires.

Manchester plays at Wawasee tonight for a nonconference match.

Valley’s Maykayla Sandbakkan lost 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Courtney Randall fell 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 3 singles slot. Lea Stouder lost 6-1, 6-0 in No. 1 singles action.

At No. 1 doubles, Tiphanie Hodge and Makenna Bradley lost 6-2, 6-1. Kaleigh Shumaker and Morgan Gilbertson were defeated 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.
