Sturtsman Strikes Out 18, Squires Defeat Wildcats
FORT WAYNE – Manchester’s Hayes Sturtsman threw a two-hitter and struck out 18 Whitko batters in the team’s 9-0 win on Wednesday at Parkview Field.
Sturtsman tossed 82 pitches, with 65 being strikes. At the plate, he had two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs.
Grant Strobel added three hits for the Squires. Noah Beck had two hits and scored two runs. Jeremiah Airgood tallied two hits, an RBI and scored a run to help the cause.
River West and Mason Lehman both tallied a hit for the Wildcats.
Manchester hosts Oak Hill on Friday and Whitko visits Adams Central.
Plymouth Gains Early Lead, Wins At Wawasee
SYRACUSE – The Plymouth baseball team won 14-4 at Wawasee on Wednesday in Northern Lakes Conference play.
Plymouth (7-4, 5-1 NLC) garnered an 8-2 lead after two innings and added six runs in the fifth and sixth innings combined to secure the win.
The Warriors (6-5, 2-2 NLC) were led on offense by Tony Garcia, who had two RBIs. Jacob Garcia had two hits in the game.
Wawasee hosts Goshen on Friday for an NLC contest at 5 p.m.

The Vikings (2-8, 0-3 TRC) scored seven runs in the last three innings, but fell short.
Valley’s Layne Prater and Ethan Yates both had two hits and one RBI.
Payton Mills had a triple and Drew Hartman had a double for the Vikings.

Wawasee’s Bethany Flannery had three doubles and two RBIs. Danielle Jenkins had three hits in the leadoff spot.
Olivia Stuck hit in three runners for the Lady Warriors.

Lydia Little won the opening set 6-4 at No. 3 singles before falling 6-4, 7-5 in the last two sets.
The duo of Lauren Metzger and Rebekah Pyle won the opening set in a tiebreaker 7-6 (7-2). They lost the last two sets by the same score, 6-3.

Wawasee’s Elisha Tipping finished first in the shot put and discus events.
Luke Griner was first in the 800-meter race for the Warriors. Spencer Hare and Karslon Hand finished first and second, respectively, in the 3200-meter race.
The 4x800-meter relay of Michael Hammer, Clay Kelsheimer, Mark Miller and Griner earned first.
Xavier Ortiz had a height of 10 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault for first. Eric Yankosky finished second with a height of 10 feet.

Warsaw Boys T&F Competes At Concord
DUNLAP – The Warsaw boys track and field team lost 80-52 to Concord and 71-61 to Goshen on Wednesday.
The Tigers’ Justin Fleming won the 800 and 1600-meter races. Lucas Howett won the two-mile race.
Nolan Groninger, Tanner Stiver, Taylor Mills and Xavi Ramierez won the 4x800-meter race for Warsaw.
John Svinarich had a discus throw of 146 feet, 9 inches for first place. Nick Miller tallied second in the event.
Eli Owen earned second in the 300-meter hurdles. John Svinarich received second in the shot put. In the pole vault, Hunter Metzger and Nick Bazzoni finished second and third, respectively.
Warsaw hosts the Max Truex Invitational Friday night at 5 p.m.
Triton Drops Golf Match At Stonehenge
The Triton boys golf team lost on Wednesday at Stonehenge Golf Club. The Trojans fired a four-man score of 177 and Fort Wayne Canterbury won with a 157.
Chase Butler had the best score for Triton with a 42. Beau Hepler shot a 43 and Isaac Wall tallied a 44.
Keegan Westafer shot a 48 and Brock Watkins carded a 51.
The Trojans hit the links again on Saturday at the Marshall County Match.
Wildcats Second In Three Rivers Match
ROCHESTER – The Whitko boys golf team finished second in a Three Rivers Conference match on Wednesday.
Rochester won with a 190, Wildcats had a 199 and North Miami finished third with a 231.
Whitko’s Kaleb Busz shot a 46 to lead the team. Cade Bechtold and Kylar Bryant both had a 47.
Dale Reiff shot a 59 and Jonathan Strayer had a 68 for the Wildcats.
Whitko visits South Shore Golf Course tonight for a match with Manchester, South Bend Riley and Wawasee.
Warsaw Golf Claims Win Against Carroll
FORT WAYNE – The Warsaw golf team won 163-179 against Carroll on Wednesday at Autumn Ridge Golf Course.
Warsaw’s Sam Yeager led the group with a 39. Tommy Meier and Jacob LaLonde both followed with a 41. Luke Delp rounded out the scoring with a 42.
Chase Byron (49) and Zach LaLonde (52) both competed for the Tigers.
Warsaw competes again on Saturday at the Hall of Fame Invitational at Rock Hollow in Peru.

Wawasee Drops NLC Match At Concord
DUNLAP – The Lady Warrior tennis team lost 5-0 in a Northern Lakes Conference match at Concord.
Wawasee’s Kendra Doerr (No. 1) and Elizabeth Kleopfer (No. 2) both dropped the opening set 6-0 in singles play. Doerr fell 6-0 in the second set and Kleopfer lost 6-1 in the second set. Kennedy Church lost 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
Kabrea Rostochak and Courtney Larson were defeated 6-2, 6-4 in No. 1 doubles play. Brianna Haessig and Molly Jones lost 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

Tipping Wins Two Events; Wawasee Boys T&F Loses
SYRACUSE – The Wawasee boys track and field team competed against NorthWood on Wednesday. The Panters won 88-44.
Wawasee’s Elisha Tipping finished first in the shot put and discus events.
Luke Griner was first in the 800-meter race for the Warriors. Spencer Hare and Karslon Hand finished first and second, respectively, in the 3200-meter race.
The 4x800-meter relay of Michael Hammer, Clay Kelsheimer, Mark Miller and Griner earned first.
Xavier Ortiz had a height of 10 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault for first. Eric Yankosky finished second with a height of 10 feet.

Warsaw Boys T&F Competes At Concord
DUNLAP – The Warsaw boys track and field team lost 80-52 to Concord and 71-61 to Goshen on Wednesday.
The Tigers’ Justin Fleming won the 800 and 1600-meter races. Lucas Howett won the two-mile race.
Nolan Groninger, Tanner Stiver, Taylor Mills and Xavi Ramierez won the 4x800-meter race for Warsaw.
John Svinarich had a discus throw of 146 feet, 9 inches for first place. Nick Miller tallied second in the event.
Eli Owen earned second in the 300-meter hurdles. John Svinarich received second in the shot put. In the pole vault, Hunter Metzger and Nick Bazzoni finished second and third, respectively.
Warsaw hosts the Max Truex Invitational Friday night at 5 p.m.
Triton Drops Golf Match At Stonehenge
The Triton boys golf team lost on Wednesday at Stonehenge Golf Club. The Trojans fired a four-man score of 177 and Fort Wayne Canterbury won with a 157.
Chase Butler had the best score for Triton with a 42. Beau Hepler shot a 43 and Isaac Wall tallied a 44.
Keegan Westafer shot a 48 and Brock Watkins carded a 51.
The Trojans hit the links again on Saturday at the Marshall County Match.
Wildcats Second In Three Rivers Match
ROCHESTER – The Whitko boys golf team finished second in a Three Rivers Conference match on Wednesday.
Rochester won with a 190, Wildcats had a 199 and North Miami finished third with a 231.
Whitko’s Kaleb Busz shot a 46 to lead the team. Cade Bechtold and Kylar Bryant both had a 47.
Dale Reiff shot a 59 and Jonathan Strayer had a 68 for the Wildcats.
Whitko visits South Shore Golf Course tonight for a match with Manchester, South Bend Riley and Wawasee.
Warsaw Golf Claims Win Against Carroll
FORT WAYNE – The Warsaw golf team won 163-179 against Carroll on Wednesday at Autumn Ridge Golf Course.
Warsaw’s Sam Yeager led the group with a 39. Tommy Meier and Jacob LaLonde both followed with a 41. Luke Delp rounded out the scoring with a 42.
Chase Byron (49) and Zach LaLonde (52) both competed for the Tigers.
Warsaw competes again on Saturday at the Hall of Fame Invitational at Rock Hollow in Peru.
