In an effort to better serve its community while promoting environmentally sound policies and procedures, WCS switched to digital flyer delivery with Peachjar in fall 2014. Since its inception, WCS has saved 5,708,457 sheets of paper – approximately 685 trees total, the release states.
“Warsaw Community Schools is dedicated to green and efficient policies and procedures as we continue to move forward,” stated WCS Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert. “We are excited to see how some of these small changes can add up to become monumental impacts on our community. Peachjar and the use of digital documents over traditional paper copies are perfect examples of conscientious procedures that not only have an environmental impact, but a financial savings to the tax payers and community.”
By sending school and community information home digitally, WCS has eliminated the need to copy and distribute millions of sheets of paper annually. This initiative has further strengthened the district’s initiative to embrace sustainable practices and technology.
“As a parent, I enjoy not having to dig through my child’s backpack to find flyers. As an administrator in our district, I appreciate reducing the time our teachers and support staff spend distributing flyers,” said Chief Communications and Accountability Officer Dani Barkey. “Peachjar’s website allows parents to easily find important school announcements as well as stay in the loop with upcoming community and school events. Their service has assisted in improving communication with parents through a cost-efficient, environmentally-friendly platform.”
