Kleopfer Leads Wawasee At Super Duals; Team Finishes Second

SYRACUSE – Wawasee hosted Columbia City, Prairie Heights and Southwood on Saturday at the Wawasee Varsity Super Duals.

Southwood won the tennis competition with a record of 3-0. The Lady Warriors finished second with a team record of 2-1.

Wawasee (3-2) beat Prairie Heights 5-0 in the first match, defeated Columbia City 4-1 and lost 3-2 to Southwood in the deciding match.

Elizabeth Kleopfer won all three of her matches at No. 2 singles for the  Lady Warriors. She only lost five games at the event.

Kendra Doerr tallied two victories at the No. 1 singles slot. Courtney Larson and Brianna Haessig won two matches at No. 2 doubles. 

The Lady Warriors host Northridge on Tuesday for a Northern Lakes Conference match.

Lady Squire Tennis Falls To Mississinewa

GAS CITY – The Manchester girls tennis team lost 4-1 to Mississinewa on Saturday. 

The lone win for the Lady Squires came from the No. 2 doubles pair of Rebekah Pyle and Lauren Metzger. The duo won 7-6 (13-11), 6-3 to claim a point for the team.

At the No. 1 singles spot, Erika Kendall took over for Kelsey Eichanauer, who didn’t play due to healing from an injury. Kendall lost 6-0, 6-0. Lydia Little saw the same fate at No. 3 singles and lost 6-0, 6-0.

Eva Bazzoni and Kendra Auler forced their No. 1 doubles match to three sets. They won the first set 7-6, winning the tiebreaker 7-5. The tandem lost the next two 6-3, 7-6 to lose.

The Lady Squires host Rochester today for a 5 p.m. match.

Valley Baseball Splits DH With Taylor

AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley baseball team hosted Taylor on Saturday for a doubleheader. The Vikings lost in the first game 13-9, but won the second 12-9.

In the first game, Valley saw itself down 5-0 after the top of the fourth inning, but staged a comeback in the bottom half. Valley scored six runs to take a 6-5 lead.

The Vikings allowed Taylor to regain the lead by scoring five runs during its next at bat. Valley tallied three runs in the final two innings, but still lost the contest.

Drew Hartman had four hits for the Vikings and slugged three doubles. He hit in three runners. Hartman took the loss for the team as he gave up five unearned runs.

During the nightcap, Valley turned things around and took the victory. Taylor scored five runs in the opening inning. The Vikings scored seven in the second and one in the third to push the lead to 8-5.

After giving up four runs in the fourth, Valley went back on top in the bottom of the frame by scoring two more runs and never looked back.

Lucas Walters had two doubles and one RBI for Valley. Ethan Yates led the team with three base knocks. 

Adam Myers earned the win on the bump. He allowed five hits, four earned runs and struck out three batters.

Valley plays at Southwood tonight for a Three Rivers Conference showdown. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.

Wawasee Hosts Baseball Invitational

SYRACUSE – At the Wawasee Invitational on Saturday, the Warriors split its games. The team won 13-3 against Heritage in the first game and lost 16-5 to Lowell in the nightcap.

In the first game, Wawasee (3-4) had 10 hits, compared to Heritage’s five. The game was tied at two after three innings when the Warriors tacked on four in the top of the fourth  inning to take the lead.

Jairus Boyer and Parker Young each had two hits for Wawasee.

In the second game, the Warriors saw themselves down 6-2 after three innings and couldn’t find a way to grab the lead.

Kameron Salazar tallied three hits during the contest and had two RBIs. Tony Garcia had three hits for the team as well.

Wawasee plays at Northridge tonight for a Northern Lakes Conference showdown.

Wawasee Softball Invite

SYRACUSE – The Whitko Lady Wildcat softball team defeated Rochester and Wawasee at the Wawasee Invitational on Saturday. Wawasee defeated South Bend Clay in its second contest.

In the first game for Whitko, it won 12-2 over the Lady Zebras and 11-1 in the nightcap over the Lady Warriors. Wawasee won 9-4 in its second game.

The Lady Wildcats had 18 hits in their game against Rochester. Ellie Snep had three hits including a double.

Augusta Garr got the victory for Whitko and had two hits.

During the Wawasee and Whitko matchup, Ellie Snep threw a one-hitter for the Lady Wildcats. Her only hit allowed was a home run to Bethany Flannery. 

Harley Bradley has three hits and two RBIs for Whitko. 

Wawasee tallied eight errors in the contest and allowed two earned runs.

In Wawasee’s win over South Bend Clay, Kiaundra Olson got the win inside the circle. 

Flannery crushed another home run and had two RBIs in the game.

Ava Rush had three RBIs from the leadoff spot.

Tonight, the Lady Warriors host Northridge and Whitko travels to Northfield.

Lady Vikings Lose Twice At Adams Central

MONROE – The Tippecanoe Valley softball lost 10-0 and 10-2 at Adams Central on Saturday.

In the first game, the Lady Vikings had hits from Amy Baca and Alex Gomez.

Ally Betten took the loss for the team and pitched three innings.

In the second contest, Valley tallied five hits. Baca had two hits in the game.

Mayde Fear pitched four innings  and gave up one run.

Valley plays at Southwood tonight at 5 p.m.

Wawasee Field Events Highlight Goshen Relays

GOSHEN – The Wawasee boys track and field team competed at the Goshen Relays on Saturday.

Isaiah Tipping won the shot put with a toss of 45 feet, 3 inches. Elisha Tipping received second in the shot. Elisha had a second-place result in the discus with a throw of 137 feet.

Luke Griner won the mile race. He crossed the finish in 4:30.11 to earn first for the Warriors.

Wawasee hosts NorthWood on Wednesday for a Northern Lakes Conference meet.



Tiger T&F Competes At Southport Relays

INDIANAPOLIS – The Warsaw boys track and field team ended in fourth at the Southport Relays on Saturday.

Hunter Metzger and Nicholas Bazzoni captured the Tigers’ lone first-place finish at the event. They finished first in the pole vault relay with a height of 23 feet, 6 inches.

John Svinarich and Nick miller ended second in the discus (250 feet, 9 inches) and shot put (88 feet, 8 inches) relays.

The long jump relay of Keagan Larsh and Mason Martz earned third. Eli Owen finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles. The high jump relay of Dane Stookey and Connor Lennox tallied fourth.

The Tigers visit Concord on Wednesday to compete with the Minutemen and Goshen.



Girls Track & Field Turtle Town Classic 

CHURUBUSCO – Churubusco hosted the Turtle Town Classic on Saturday for girls track and field. Manchester, Wawasee and Whitko competed at the event.

The Lady Warriors participated in the gold meet and finished in eighth place with 41 points.

Wawasee’s Jada Parzygnot won the pole vault with a height of nine feet. McKenzie Smith finished third in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:32.80.

Sara Pritchard had a distance of 103 feet, 1 inch in the discus and placed fourth.

Manchester finished fourth in the black meet. Whitko ended in 11th.

Jaelyn Webb finished second in the 1600 and 3200-meter races for the Lady Squires. Kailea Kerr tallied third in the 400-meter dash and Anna Markham had the same result in the 800-meter race.

The 4x800-meter relay of Kendra Kline, Maddy Evans, Markham and Webb received a first-place nod in the event. They ran a 11:06.28 to capture first.

Lady Wildcats’ Carissa Beck finished second in the shot put. She tossed the shot 34 feet to earn eight points for the team.

On Tuesday, Wawasee competes at Warsaw, and Manchester and Whitko are at Northfield.

Triton Wins Whitko Golf Invitational

NORTH MANCHESTER – The Triton boys golf team won the Whitko Invitational on Saturday by shooting a 335 as a team. The Manchester golf team was fourth (355), Wawasee finished fifth (380), Whitko sixth (386) and Tippecanoe Valley came in eighth with a 414.

Manchester’s Harley Kruschwitz was the medalist at the event with a 72. Nathan Self finished eighth with a total of 84 for the Squires.

The Vikings’ Cade Brouyette tallied a second-place nod with a 78. Triton’s Beau Hepler finished in fifth (82), Isaac Wall sixth (83) and Keegan Westafer seventh (83).

Triton competes with Warsaw tonight at Stonehenge. Wawasee hosts Elkhart Central, Fairfield and West Noble. Valley hosts Peru on Tuesday. Whitko is at Rochester on Wednesday. Manchester competes at South Shore on Thursday.



Warsaw Golf Cards Fifth-Place Finish

DEMOTTE – The Warsaw boys golf team tallied a fifth-place finish at the Lake Central Invitational on Saturday. The Tigers had a team score of 312, which is their best total of the season so far. 

Warsaw’s Sam Yeager ended in ninth individually by carding a 75. Luke Delp shot a 77, and Tommy Meier and Jacob LaLonde each had an 80. Jacob LaLonde highlighted the event for the Tigers by capturing a hole-in-one on a Par 3.

Zach LaLonde rounded out the team scoring with an 84 and Chase Byron also competed and had an 85.

Warsaw competes against Triton today at Stonehenge. The match begins at 4:30 p.m.



Triton JV Golf Wins Plymouth Invitational

PLYMOUTH – The Triton junior varsity golf team finished first in a 16-team Invitational held by Plymouth on Saturday. Warsaw ended in fourth.

The Trojans shot 373 as a team and Warsaw recorded a 381.

Cole Voss carded an 87 to lead the Tigers and had a individual third-place finish. Noah Pequignot and Tucker Carlile each shot a 94.

Mason Whitaker had a 104 and Bryce Welk shot a 129.

Lady Squire Tennis Falls To Mississinewa

GAS CITY – The Manchester girls tennis team lost 4-1 to Mississinewa on Saturday. 

The lone win for the Lady Squires came from the No. 2 doubles pair of Rebekah Pyle and Lauren Metzger. The duo won 7-6 (13-11), 6-3 to claim a point for the team.

At the No. 1 singles spot, Erika Kendall took over for Kelsey Eichanauer, who didn’t play due to healing from an injury. Kendall lost 6-0, 6-0. Lydia Little saw the same fate at No. 3 singles and lost 6-0, 6-0.

Eva Bazzoni and Kendra Auler forced their No. 1 doubles match to three sets. They won the first set 7-6, winning the tiebreaker 7-5. The tandem lost the next two 6-3, 7-6 to lose.

The Lady Squires host Rochester today for a 5 p.m. match.

Valley Baseball Splits DH With Taylor

AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley baseball team hosted Taylor on Saturday for a doubleheader. The Vikings lost in the first game 13-9, but won the second 12-9.

In the first game, Valley saw itself down 5-0 after the top of the fourth inning, but staged a comeback in the bottom half. Valley scored six runs to take a 6-5 lead.

The Vikings allowed Taylor to regain the lead by scoring five runs during its next at bat. Valley tallied three runs in the final two innings, but still lost the contest.

Drew Hartman had four hits for the Vikings and slugged three doubles. He hit in three runners. Hartman took the loss for the team as he gave up five unearned runs.

During the nightcap, Valley turned things around and took the victory. Taylor scored five runs in the opening inning. The Vikings scored seven in the second and one in the third to push the lead to 8-5.

After giving up four runs in the fourth, Valley went back on top in the bottom of the frame by scoring two more runs and never looked back.

Lucas Walters had two doubles and one RBI for Valley. Ethan Yates led the team with three base knocks. 

Adam Myers earned the win on the bump. He allowed five hits, four earned runs and struck out three batters.

Valley plays at Southwood tonight for a Three Rivers Conference showdown. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.

Wawasee Hosts Baseball Invitational

SYRACUSE – At the Wawasee Invitational on Saturday, the Warriors split its games. The team won 13-3 against Heritage in the first game and lost 16-5 to Lowell in the nightcap.

In the first game, Wawasee (3-4) had 10 hits, compared to Heritage’s five. The game was tied at two after three innings when the Warriors tacked on four in the top of the fourth  inning to take the lead.

Jairus Boyer and Parker Young each had two hits for Wawasee.

In the second game, the Warriors saw themselves down 6-2 after three innings and couldn’t find a way to grab the lead.

Kameron Salazar tallied three hits during the contest and had two RBIs. Tony Garcia had three hits for the team as well.

Wawasee plays at Northridge tonight for a Northern Lakes Conference showdown.

Wawasee Softball Invite

SYRACUSE – The Whitko Lady Wildcat softball team defeated Rochester and Wawasee at the Wawasee Invitational on Saturday. Wawasee defeated South Bend Clay in its second contest.

In the first game for Whitko, it won 12-2 over the Lady Zebras and 11-1 in the nightcap over the Lady Warriors. Wawasee won 9-4 in its second game.

The Lady Wildcats had 18 hits in their game against Rochester. Ellie Snep had three hits including a double.

Augusta Garr got the victory for Whitko and had two hits.

During the Wawasee and Whitko matchup, Ellie Snep threw a one-hitter for the Lady Wildcats. Her only hit allowed was a home run to Bethany Flannery. 

Harley Bradley has three hits and two RBIs for Whitko. 

Wawasee tallied eight errors in the contest and allowed two earned runs.

In Wawasee’s win over South Bend Clay, Kiaundra Olson got the win inside the circle. 

Flannery crushed another home run and had two RBIs in the game.

Ava Rush had three RBIs from the leadoff spot.

Tonight, the Lady Warriors host Northridge and Whitko travels to Northfield.

Lady Vikings Lose Twice At Adams Central

MONROE – The Tippecanoe Valley softball lost 10-0 and 10-2 at Adams Central on Saturday.

In the first game, the Lady Vikings had hits from Amy Baca and Alex Gomez.

Ally Betten took the loss for the team and pitched three innings.

In the second contest, Valley tallied five hits. Baca had two hits in the game.

Mayde Fear pitched four innings  and gave up one run.

Valley plays at Southwood tonight at 5 p.m.

Wawasee Field Events Highlight Goshen Relays

GOSHEN – The Wawasee boys track and field team competed at the Goshen Relays on Saturday.

Isaiah Tipping won the shot put with a toss of 45 feet, 3 inches. Elisha Tipping received second in the shot. Elisha had a second-place result in the discus with a throw of 137 feet.

Luke Griner won the mile race. He crossed the finish in 4:30.11 to earn first for the Warriors.

Wawasee hosts NorthWood on Wednesday for a Northern Lakes Conference meet.



Tiger T&F Competes At Southport Relays

INDIANAPOLIS – The Warsaw boys track and field team ended in fourth at the Southport Relays on Saturday.

Hunter Metzger and Nicholas Bazzoni captured the Tigers’ lone first-place finish at the event. They finished first in the pole vault relay with a height of 23 feet, 6 inches.

John Svinarich and Nick miller ended second in the discus (250 feet, 9 inches) and shot put (88 feet, 8 inches) relays.

The long jump relay of Keagan Larsh and Mason Martz earned third. Eli Owen finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles. The high jump relay of Dane Stookey and Connor Lennox tallied fourth.

The Tigers visit Concord on Wednesday to compete with the Minutemen and Goshen.



Girls Track & Field Turtle Town Classic 

CHURUBUSCO – Churubusco hosted the Turtle Town Classic on Saturday for girls track and field. Manchester, Wawasee and Whitko competed at the event.

The Lady Warriors participated in the gold meet and finished in eighth place with 41 points.

Wawasee’s Jada Parzygnot won the pole vault with a height of nine feet. McKenzie Smith finished third in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:32.80.

Sara Pritchard had a distance of 103 feet, 1 inch in the discus and placed fourth.

Manchester finished fourth in the black meet. Whitko ended in 11th.

Jaelyn Webb finished second in the 1600 and 3200-meter races for the Lady Squires. Kailea Kerr tallied third in the 400-meter dash and Anna Markham had the same result in the 800-meter race.

The 4x800-meter relay of Kendra Kline, Maddy Evans, Markham and Webb received a first-place nod in the event. They ran a 11:06.28 to capture first.

Lady Wildcats’ Carissa Beck finished second in the shot put. She tossed the shot 34 feet to earn eight points for the team.

On Tuesday, Wawasee competes at Warsaw, and Manchester and Whitko are at Northfield.

Triton Wins Whitko Golf Invitational

NORTH MANCHESTER – The Triton boys golf team won the Whitko Invitational on Saturday by shooting a 335 as a team. The Manchester golf team was fourth (355), Wawasee finished fifth (380), Whitko sixth (386) and Tippecanoe Valley came in eighth with a 414.

Manchester’s Harley Kruschwitz was the medalist at the event with a 72. Nathan Self finished eighth with a total of 84 for the Squires.

The Vikings’ Cade Brouyette tallied a second-place nod with a 78. Triton’s Beau Hepler finished in fifth (82), Isaac Wall sixth (83) and Keegan Westafer seventh (83).

Triton competes with Warsaw tonight at Stonehenge. Wawasee hosts Elkhart Central, Fairfield and West Noble. Valley hosts Peru on Tuesday. Whitko is at Rochester on Wednesday. Manchester competes at South Shore on Thursday.



Warsaw Golf Cards Fifth-Place Finish

DEMOTTE – The Warsaw boys golf team tallied a fifth-place finish at the Lake Central Invitational on Saturday. The Tigers had a team score of 312, which is their best total of the season so far. 

Warsaw’s Sam Yeager ended in ninth individually by carding a 75. Luke Delp shot a 77, and Tommy Meier and Jacob LaLonde each had an 80. Jacob LaLonde highlighted the event for the Tigers by capturing a hole-in-one on a Par 3.

Zach LaLonde rounded out the team scoring with an 84 and Chase Byron also competed and had an 85.

Warsaw competes against Triton today at Stonehenge. The match begins at 4:30 p.m.



Triton JV Golf Wins Plymouth Invitational

PLYMOUTH – The Triton junior varsity golf team finished first in a 16-team Invitational held by Plymouth on Saturday. Warsaw ended in fourth.

The Trojans shot 373 as a team and Warsaw recorded a 381.

Cole Voss carded an 87 to lead the Tigers and had a individual third-place finish. Noah Pequignot and Tucker Carlile each shot a 94.

Mason Whitaker had a 104 and Bryce Welk shot a 129.
