Two people were hurt, one seriously, in a two-vehicle accident around 12:15 p.m. Friday at the intersection of U.S. 30 and CR 150W, Warsaw. The names of the drivers were not identified as of press time. According to a Warsaw Police Department officer at the scene, a Chrysler Sebring Touring was westbound on U.S. 30; a red Smart car, going east on U.S. 30, turned north at the light at CR 150W and the two cars collided. The driver of the Sebring had minor injuries, while the driver of the Smart car was unconscious and had to be extricated. Lutheran Air helicopter was called to the scene to transport the Smart car driver, but the driver was taken by ambulance to a hospital. Assisting the WPD at the scene were Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, Indiana State Police and Lutheran EMS. Westbound traffic on U.S. 30 was backed up for several miles. No further information was available at press time. Photo by Gary Nieter.
