Wawasee Loses Northern Lakes Matchup In Extras

SYRACUSE – The Wawasee baseball team lost 9-3 in a long contest to NorthWood Friday.

The Warriors (3-4, 1-1 NLC) scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie it at one in the Northern Lakes Conference showdown.

NorthWood (6-1, 2-0 (NLC) tallied eight runs in the top of the 10th frame. The Warriors scored two runs but that was all they would get in the failed comeback attempt.

Jacob Garcia totaled three hits in the game. Kameron Salazar had two RBIs.

Blake Norris took the loss and threw nine innings of six-hit ball.

Wawasee hosts an Invitational today at 10 a.m.

Plymouth Edges Warsaw On The Diamond

PLYMOUTH – Warsaw baseball lost 5-1 to Northern Lakes Conference-rival Plymouth on Friday.

The Tigers (2-3, 0-3 NLC) scored their lone run in the first inning. Despite the run differential, Warsaw tied Plymouth (4-2, 2-0 NLC) with six hits.

Jared Hawley tallied two hits for the Tigers including a double. Caden Bowers pitched five innings and took the loss.

Warsaw returns home today for a doubleheader with Kokomo.

Squires Total Six Errors In Loss At Columbia City

COLUMBIA CITY – Manchester allows nine unearned runs in an 11-3 loss to Columbia City on Friday.

The Squires (1-3) totaled six errors in the contest. The team allowed eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Manchester tallied seven hits in the game. 

The Squires host Churubusco today for a nonconference clash.

Lady Tigers’ Offense Ignites For 17 Hits

The Warsaw Lady Tiger softball team rolled over Plymouth on Friday. Warsaw won 10-2 in the Northern Lakes Conference showdown.

Warsaw opened the game with five runs in the bottom of the first frame and ended the game with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Lady Tiger Courtney Chookie allowed three hits over seven innings and gave up two runs. She struck out 10 and walked none.

Warsaw tallied 17 hits in the contest. Lindsey Bradley, Adara Frey and Chookie collected three hits each. 

The Lady Tigers visit NorthWood on Monday at 5 p.m. for another NLC matchup.

NorthWood Defeats Wawasee In Extra Innings

NAPPANEE – The NorthWood softball team won 8-7 in eight innings over Wawasee on Friday.

The Lady Warriors (2-5, 0-2 NLC) had a four-run lead going into the fourth inning when they allowed a runner to cross the plate.

The Lady Panthers (6-2, 1-1 NLC) scored six-unanswered runs in three innings to take the lead by the end of the sixth inning.

Wawasee tallied two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game. In the eighth inning, the Lady Warriors pushed across a run to take a slim lead.

NorthWood scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to win the game.

Delaney Hare had two hits and two RBIs for Wawasee. Olivia Stuck led the team with three hits. 

The Lady Warriors host the Wawasee Invitational today at 10 a.m.

Lady Trojans Sneak By Lady Wildcats 

BOURBON – The Triton girls tennis team won 3-2 against Whitko on Friday in a nonconference match.

The Lady Trojans (3-0) came back in the No. 2 doubles match after going down by one after the first set. The pair of Ivy Powell and Lexia Hostrawer lost the first set 6-1, but came back and won the second 7-5. In the deciding set, they pushed it to an extra game and won 7-6.

The No. 1 singles of Hannah Wanemacher won 6-1, 6-4 for Triton. Molly McFarland won 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2 singles.

Kayla Schipper tallied a point for Whitko (2-3) at the No. 3 singles slot. She won 6-2, 7-5. The No. 1 doubles duo of Jenna VanCuren and Mahkinsey Myers won in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.

Whitko hosts Columbia City on Monday at 4:30 p.m. Triton visits LaVille at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Whitko Wildcat Golf Shoots 199 To Win

DENVER – The Whitko Wildcat golf team won 199-221 at North Miami on Friday.

Whitko’s Cade Bechtold led the team with a 41. Kaleb Busz shot a 44 and Kylar Bryant had a 56.

Jonathan Strayer (58) and Dale Reiff (59) rounded out the scorer for the Wildcats.

Now 3-1 of the year, Whitko competes at Rochester on Wednesday, with North Miami participating as well. The match begins at 4:30 p.m.



Manchester Golf Cruises Past Churubusco

CHURUBUSCO – The Manchester Squire golf team won 183-201 against Churubusco Friday night.

The Squires’ Harley Kruschwitz shot a 39 for medalist honors. Nathan Self carded a 42 to help the team.

Konrad Borgmann (50), Logan Parrett (52) and Klayton Hendrix (54) rounded out the scoring for Manchester.

The Squires visit Sycamore Golf Club today for the Whitko Invitational.



Wawasee Hosts Unified Track & Field Meet

SYRACUSE – Wawasee High School hosted the Warrior Invitational on Friday for unified track and field.

Camren Mangun won the 100-meter dash for the Warriors. Josh Metcalf (long jump) and Kenyon Cotton (shot put) both tallied first-place nods.

Rhian Galloway finished second in the 400-meter dash. Ashley Rose landed in second in the long jump. Abbie Hackleman and Jared Gentry both ended in second in the 100-meter sprint.

Jackie Mendoza and Cotton finished third in the 400-meters. Gavynn Wolferman had a third-place result in the 100-meters. Cali Willaman and Camren Mangun each finished third in the long jump.

The team competes at East Noble on Friday.
