Friends of the Library in Warsaw will host a book sale from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the library.
A good selection of books will be offered at the sale at Warsaw Community Public Library.
A discount at the sale will be given to teachers and FOL members.
Friends of the Library volunteers stayed busy during National Library Week, April 8-14. Tuesday was National Library Workers Day, a day for “Friends” to recognize the contributions made by WCPL staff.
On Thursday, Take Action for Libraries Day, members held a mid-size book sale where shoppers could relax in a cafe setting with coffee, tea and snacks.
Moe’s To Open May 3
Moe’s Southwest Grill will open its Warsaw location at 1140 Lake City Hwy. on May 3. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place May 2.
To celebrate the opening, Moe’s will give away one free burrito a week for a year to the first 25 people in line on May 3.
The restaurant is part of a development along U.S. 30 to be known as Lake City Plaza, in front of Meijer. McAlister’s Deli will open Monday, Starbucks will open soon and a new Belle Tire location is under construction there.
Akron Elementary Spring Concert Monday
AKRON – Entitled “Together,” Akron Elementary School will host its spring concert at 7 p.m. Monday in the school gymnasium.
Students in first, third and fifth grades will perform songs reflecting friendship, and will include several folk dances. The concert will be led by Julie Baxter.
Y Camp Runs June Through August
The YMCA’s Camp Little Eagle is offering day camp to give kids entering kindergarten through eighth grade an adventurous, active and healthy summer. Camp Little Eagle takes place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 4 to Aug. 10 at Parkview Warsaw YMCA.
The YMCA camp programs offer youth fun and unique experiences with an opportunity to learn new things, meet new friends, discover new interests and create memories that last a lifetime.
For some kids summer means no access to recreational and educational activities to help them learn, grow and thrive during out-of-school time. As a result, some kids can experience learning loss and gain weight twice as fast than during the school year. The camp provides an opportunity for kids to keep their minds and bodies active.
Camp Little Eagle will be involved in the YMCA’s Readers Program and the staff will provide 30 minutes of reading time each day for campers to read to themselves. Kids can bring their own books, or books will be provided.
Kids will participate in swim lessons and water safety instruction at the Y twice a week and open swim on the other three days. Additionally, camp will keep kids active for at least 60 minutes each day through over 300 group games. They’ll also keep mentally active with STEM and nutritional activities. Campers will take field trips almost every week to places where they have an opportunity to be active and/or engage with what they’re learning in the weekly themed lessons. Field trips include Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, a Water Park, Skyzone, Science Central, Crazy Pinz and Paige’s Crossing.
Sign-ups are going on for camp now. Register soon, because spaces are limited.
The Kosciusko Community YMCA offers financial assistance to those in need. People interested in helping send kids to camp this summer, you can donate to the Y at www.kcymca.org/give/.
